Lanzamiento exitoso del SES-15, el primer satélite Geoestacionario de SES en un cohete Soyuz desde la Guyana Francesa

SES (Euronext Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG) anunció hoy que el satélite SES-15 fue lanzado con éxito a bordo de un cohete Soyuz del Centro Espacial de Guyana en Kourou, Guayana Francesa, a las 08:54 hora local. Este es el primer satélite de SES que se lanzará en un cohete Soyuz para una misión de órbita de transferencia geoestacionaria.

SES-15 tiene una carga útil, con amplios haces tradicionales en banda Ku y cobertura de HTS (High Throughput Satellite) también en banda Ku con conectividad a puertos de enlace en banda Ka. El primer satélite híbrido de SES se encontrará en la posición orbital de 129 grados oeste y está equipado con 16 transponedores en banda Ku (equivalentes de 36 MHz) y una capacidad HTS para prestar servicio a América del Norte, México, América Central y el Caribe.

La carga útil de alto rendimiento del SES-15 proporcionará una cobertura optimizada y flexible para los proveedores líderes globales de conectividad y entretenimiento en vuelo (IFC/IFE) como Global Eagle Entertainment Gogo y Panasonic Avionics.

Además, el SES-15 tiene un amplio haz dedicado que se diseñó para permitirles a los proveedores IFC/IFE transmitir en vivo contenido de TV en todas las rutas de vuelo en los EUA, incluidos Hawái y Alaska, así como Canadá, el Caribe y México. Esta combinación única de haces les permite a los proveedores IFC/IFE optimizar el uso de la capacidad HTS para el tráfico de Internet y una cobertura de haces amplios para transmitir contenido.

El satélite posibilitará las redes VSAT y el uso de otras aplicaciones de datos de uso intensivo de gobiernos, y el sector marítimo.

SES-15 también contará con una carga del WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System), que le permitirá a la Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA) EUA optimizar el Sistema de Posicionamiento Global (GPS) para mejorar la precisión, integridad y disponibilidad de del sistema para la industria aeronáutica.

El satélite está equipado con un sistema de propulsión eléctrica para realizar maniobras para la puesta y mantenimiento en órbita.
