NanoSteel lance son acier d'outillage imprimable 3D

NanoSteel®, leader des matériaux nanostructurés en acier, a annoncé le lancement de son premier produit pour le processus de fabrication additive par fusion laser sur lit de poudre. Le BLDRmetal™ L-40 est une poudre d'acier de cémentation fournissant une dureté et une ductilité élevées (dureté de la couche >70HRC, allongement de 10% et plus) qui s'imprime facilement sur du matériel commercial standard. Cet alliage fournit une performance supérieure à l'acier maraging M300 et représente une alternative aux aciers d'outillage difficile à imprimer, comme le H13. Développant l'utilisation potentielle de l'impression 3D pour une grande variété de marchés de matériaux durs, le BLDRmetal™ L-40 est conçu pour être utilisé pour des pièces telles des outils, des matrices, des roulements et des engrenages.

Les capacités du BLDRmetal™ L-40 ont été démontrées par l'impression de matrices de filetage par roulage de 8 pouces, et ont surpassé les matrices usinées à partir d'aciers d'outillage D2 et M2. "Nous avons essayé pratiquement toutes les combinaisons de matériaux et de processus d'usinage CNC conventionnels pour créer nos matrices à double filetage, mais aucune n'a réussi à couper ni moudre la géométrie complexe du double filetage", déclare Mark Doll, président et CEO de Perfect Lock Bolt America Inc., seul fabricant de fixations à double filetage en Amérique du Nord capables de résister à l'auto-desserrage.
