Norsk Titanium completa con Thales Alenia Space il collaudo del componente realizzato con la tecnologia Rapid Plasma Deposition™

Norsk Titanium AS, società pionieristica di prestigio mondiale impegnata nella fornitura di componenti strutturali in titanio per applicazioni aerospaziali realizzati mediante manifattura additiva, ha annunciato di aver completato il collaudo del materiale prodotto con la tecnologia Rapid Plasma Deposition™ (RPD™) con Thales Alenia Space, la joint-venture tra Thales (67%) e Leonardo (33%), per lo sviluppo, la produzione e il collaudo di componenti per l’uso in viaggi spaziali.

Ai sensi di un contratto sottoscritto nel 2016, Norsk Titanium ha collaborato con Thales Alenia Space per sviluppare, produrre e collaudare un componente iniziale di qualificazione. Secondo quanto previsto dal piano di collaudo, Norsk Titanium ha valutato l’idoneità del materiale RPD™ in sostituzione degli elementi forgiati semifiniti per applicazioni aerospaziali. Norsk Titanium è lieta di annunciare che il collaudo meccanico è stato completato e il materiale realizzato con la tecnologia RPD™ ha esibito prestazioni conformi ai requisiti stabiliti di comune accordo.

L’impiego del materiale RPD™ consente a Thales Alenia Space di migliorare l’esecuzione dei programmi, dimezzare gli attuali rapporti buy-to-fly (peso del materiale impiegato/peso del componente finito) e ridurre di sei mesi i tempi di esecuzione.
