Chateau de Chausse Wines from Provence Launch in US

Real Estate Developer & International Film Distributor Charles S. Cohen Announces First Foray into Wine Market

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 21, 2017) - In time for late summer sipping, President/CEO of Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation and Academy Award-winning distributor and Chairman/CEO of the Cohen Media Group, Charles S. Cohen, is launching a tri-color of wines from Provence. Château de Chausse wines, longtime favorites of Michelin-starred French restaurants, will no longer be a secret from American wine lovers. Provence rosé leads the well-documented rise of pink wine in the U.S. with 65% of the market share, according to the Nielson Company. Betting that there's room for additional category growth, Cohen is introducing two Côtes de Provence rosés: Château de Chausse Rosé ($29.99 SRP), produced from estate-grown Cinsault and Grenache grapes, and Chausse Rosé, a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, and Rolle ($24.00 SRP). Four other wines showcasing the diversity of the estate's vineyards are also being launched under the Château de Chausse label: a white made from 100% Rolle -- the Provençal name for Vermentino ($28.00 SRP), a red Syrah/Cabernet Sauvignon blend ($33.00 SRP), an ultra-premium barrel-aged white from Rolle called Diamant ($58.00 SRP), and limited quantities of an exceptional Syrah/Cabernet Sauvignon barrel-aged blend called Rubis ($112.00 SRP). The wines are imported by Solstars Inc. and are available in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut in this introductory phase.

Charles and his wife Clo purchased the property in 2016 from Yves and Roseline Schelcher, a Swiss couple who planted the original vines 30 years ago. Château de Chausse's 135-acre estate, just nine miles from St. Tropez, contains 37.5 acres of vineyards and produces 70,000 bottles annually. The vineyards are sustainably farmed and will be certified organic by 2018.

One of Provence's leading consulting winemakers, Laurence Berlemont, produces the wines at Château de Chausse. An advocate for biodiversity, Berlemont works with a range of clients in addition to Château de Chausse, which includes Château Miraval, Les Fontenilles, and La Commanderie de Peyrassol. In describing what sets Château de Chausse apart, she commented, "The estate's location near the Mediterranean creates particular growing conditions. The vineyards, with their sandy clay and schist soils, are completely surrounded by mountains." She elaborated, "The vines benefit from a lot of sunshine, with temperatures moderated by the proximity to the coast."

A Francophile to the core, Cohen is committed to promoting French culture in the US and is the leading distributor of French language art-house films in North America. The French Government awarded Cohen the National Order of Merit and recently made him a Knight of the Orders of Arts and Letters. His vision for the winery, in addition to improving quality and recognition, also includes the goal of creating a gathering place amidst the vineyards for the international film community.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete. However, applying the culture to outdated technology is a recipe for disaster; as response times grow and connections between teams are delayed by technology, the culture will die.
