HONG KONG, Oct 13, 2017 - (ACN Newswire) - The 37th HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and the 21st electronicAsia, jointly organised by the HKTDC and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and will continue through 16 October. As the world's largest electronics marketplace, the Autumn Electronics Fair and electronicAsia attracted some 4,300 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions this year. The HKTDC has organised 140 buying missions, representing more than 9,000 companies from 64 countries and regions for the two fairs.

"Given the scale of the Autumn Electronics Fair and electronicAsia, the two fairs have become the most important sourcing platform for the electronics industry. We, however, do not plan to stop here," said HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau. "With the scale of the fairs and the golden opportunity when international industry players all gather in Hong Kong, we hope to help start-ups expand their business, while providing a platform for the electronics and technology industry to exchange information and push forward."

From branded products to cutting-edge technology

To match with the buyers' sourcing needs, the Autumn Electronics Fair features a number of thematic zones. The Hall of Fame gathers the latest electronic products from more than 550 top international brands, including Binatone, Goodway, Motorola, VTech for buyers to easily source retail-ready products. The Tech Hall, located at the Convention Hall, focuses on a number of highly sought-after tech products. The Virtual Reality (VR) zone showcases a range of gaming products and smart eyeglasses using virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. The Robotics & Unmanned Tech zone presents the latest drones and service robots. The Smart Tech zone gathers smart IoT products for personal and household use. They cover a wide range of businesses, showcasing remarkable creativity in their electronics and technology products, such as trendy gadgets and smart household appliances, to computer and smartphone accessories and mobile apps.

"The participating start-ups can join an internationally renowned industry exhibition at a favourable fee to connect with potential suppliers, buyers and investors," Mr Chau said. "The HKTDC has also organised a series of related events with start-up-supporting institutions such as the Hong Kong Business Angel Network, Hello Reporter and Jumpstart magazine. These include 'Startup, Smart Launch' to reach more potential buyers, 'Tech Startups - Pitch, Mix and Match' to meet with angel investors, as well as Media Pitch Day to gain media exposure. We hope these events will help start-ups succeed in the market. Individuals interested in entrepreneurship can also participate in a number of Startup Mentoring Classes where experts will share tips and inspirations."
