Rocky Mountain Air Solutions Integrates Cylinder Tracking with Prophet 21

Atmospheric gas distributor selects ERP to transform productivity and accuracy of inventory tracking

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced Rocky Mountain Air Solutions has chosen the award winning Epicor® Prophet 21® software as its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to better meet the expectations and needs of the medical and gas distribution industry.

“We believe that we’ve found the distribution software that ties all of the pieces of distribution together to make our customer interaction seamless.”
Kathleen Lofgren, Owner, Rocky Mountain Air Solutions

Rocky Mountain Air Solutions (RMA), formerly United States Welding, was founded in 1924. The company is a dynamic and independent distributor of Industrial, Medical, Specialty, Compressed and Cryogenic Gases in the Rocky Mountain Region.

RMA began searching for a new ERP solution after being unable to fully implement their previous ERP system purchased in 2010. The company was unable to achieve the performance required for a state-of-the-art ERP system and began looking for solutions that better met the expectations of the medical and gas distribution industry with seamless and fully functioning integration for asset tracking.

"Unlike other systems out there, Prophet 21 enables Rocky Mountain Air Solutions to be FDA validated in our medical lot tracking process. We're also very excited by the types of reports that Prophet 21 can generate with its business intelligence," said Kathleen Lofgren, owner, Rocky Mountain Air Solutions. "We believe that we've found the distribution software that ties all of the pieces of distribution together to make our customer interaction seamless. We mean to dazzle our customers with our efficiency and we need Prophet 21 as our partner to make this a reality."

Increased profits and efficiency with cylinder tracking integration
A significant issue with RMA's review of different ERP systems was that they lacked a fully integrated system for tracking cylinders and other assets. All companies who are regulated by the FDA for medical products distribution must know where medical products and cylinders are at at all times. This is a critical necessity for all atmospheric gas companies who distribute medical products and medical gases. RMA chose to integrate Prophet 21 with TrackAbout asset tracking software, allowing the company to track cylinders as they are produced, delivered, and returned. "We get the robust Prophet 21 ERP system tied with the TrackAbout asset tracking system. This solves the problem that atmospheric gas companies are facing," said Lofgren. Utilizing the Prophet 21 and TrackAbout integration will give the company an accurate idea of what to produce and when to produce it, which will provide greater efficiency. The increased production accuracy will improve profitablity and the dashboard reporting and business intelligence tools will give key managers real-time insight, enhancing the ability to command quick and flexible changes. "The reporting capabilty is considered a huge advantage over the legacy software we felt we had to replace," Lofgren added.

"The Epicor Prophet 21 solution is a proven success for distributors of all sizes, and the software is becoming more powerful and valuable to companies that need a one-stop shop for their services," said Mark Jensen, director of product management, Epicor. "Prophet 21 software offers a combination of features and functionality that can accurately streamline processes. Pricing, inventory and even quoting becomes automated reducing time consumption."

Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
