XMOS Enables Far-Field Voice Technology for Pegatron Martina Smart Speaker Interface to Google Cloud Services

The XVF3000™ voice processor from the XMOS comprehensive far-field voice interface portfolio, delivers crystal clear voice capture for Asian market and beyond

BRISTOL, England, Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- XMOS (www.xmos.com), a leading supplier of advanced embedded voice and audio interface solutions, today confirmed that its VocalFusion™ voice technology has been selected by Pegatron Corporation, a worldwide leader in electronic and computing Design and Manufacturing Service (DMS), for its new smart voice assistant Martina.

Pegatron Corporation has a diversified product line, including desktop PCs, notebooks, tablet, smartphone, broadband, wireless systems, game consoles, networking equipment, set-top boxes, smart home, servers, auto electronics and more. The Pegatron smart voice assistant Martina, part of its AI portfolio of solutions, uses Google Cloud Services and natural language recognition technology to support Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean languages.  The XMOS XVF3000 voice processor deployed in the Martina unit uses acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) to remove playback audio from the microphone signal allowing users to barge-in and talk over the playback signal. Noise suppression and dereverberation technologies are used to remove unwanted noise and echoes in the captured signal, providing a crystal clear output signal. The microphone follows a voice as it moves around the room (via beamforming), and ensures that even the quietest person in the room can be easily heard.

"The launch of this device further extends the deployment success of the XVF3000 voice processor, and is testament to the XMOS comprehensive far-field voice interface portfolio," said Mark Lippett, President and CEO at XMOS. "Voice enabled smart speakers, like Pegatron's Martina, are set to see significant growth, and we are proud to have worked with Pegatron Corporation on this project. We look forward to showing this device at CES in January."

"The XMOS solution was selected for use in our smart voice assistant due to its superior far-field voice technology," said Joe Wu, Senior Director at Pegatron Corporation. "Martina, with its cross-platform compatibility and voice driven user interface, has the ability to connect and control a wide range of devices and services using simple voice commands. The quality of the voice processor is therefore critical to its success as a product, and the XMOS solution truly meets our performance requirements."

While some developers care passionately about how data centers and clouds are architected, for most, it is only the end result that matters. Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. With large multi-gigabyte projects, outdated tools have stifled industrial team agility, time-to-market milestones, and impacted P&L stakeholders.
Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications.
