Zhaopin Unveils 2017 Top 30 Employers in China

HANGZHOU, China, Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Zhaopin Limited ("Zhaopin" or the "Company"), a leading career platform in China focused on connecting users with relevant job opportunities through their career lifecycle, today announced the Top 30 winners of the "China Best Employer Award 2017", with BMW China leading the list.

China Best Employer Award Winners 2017

Winners of the 2017 awards were led by Top 10 employers that included, in order: BMW China, Tencent, China Merchants Bank, Vanke, Netease, the People's Insurance Company (Group) of China, Baidu, SF Express, FAW Group, and BAIC Group. The full ranked list of the Top 30 Employers is set forth below.

Among this year's Top 30 Employers, 40% are public companies. By industry, 30% of the winners are from the IT/telecom/electronics/internet sector, indicating that Artificial Intelligence and digital technology are driving the new employer economy in China.

In evaluating these companies, employees and the public gave top priorities to the employer's culture, salary and welfare, and training opportunities, followed by working environment, organizational structure and employer reputation. The most important evaluation factors were respect for employees, sound welfare and benefits, and salaries that matched workers' contributions to the employer, Zhaopin found.

The annual "China Best Employer Award" was organized by Zhaopin together with Peking University Social Survey Research Center. Launched in 2005, the award has become the most influential and prestigious employer brand event in China. The "Oscar" of the human resources industry in the country, the award is both a valuable reference for job seekers, and an important way for local and international employers to measure themselves against the best in the industry.

This year's winners were selected from more than 17,550 nominated companies, representing an increase of 80% over last year. A record of more than 24.3 million online votes and nominations were conducted by employees and the public, six time more than last year. The award selection was based on professional evaluation by a jury committee and surveys of employees, HR professionals and the public.

In addition to the Top 30 Employers in China, Zhaopin also announced winners for the "Best Employer for Female Employees", "Best Employer for University Students", "Most Socially Responsible Employer", and "Most Aspiring Employer" for 2017.

The "Best Employer for Female Employees Award" was jointly issued this year by Zhaopin and UN Women, and integrated the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) into the award selection criteria. WEPs are a set of globally recognized principles on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community, jointly developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact.

For award winners, their female employees accounted for 49.3% of total employees, 6.2 percentage higher than the national average. These companies provided more considerate benefits for female employees. The average maternity leave for female employees was 131 days at these companies, compared with 98 days required by the Labor Law in China. Male employees also got 14 days for paternity leave at these companies. 89% of winning companies had special policies to support female employees during pregnancy, child birth and lactation.

The ideal employers for college graduates should offer competitive salaries, training opportunities, and equal treatment, Zhaopin found in its survey. 60.9% of college students thought highly of salaries. Their expected monthly salary in 2017 was RMB6,023, an increase of 5% over last year.
