About Fishing Star

Fishing Star, published by GREE, was the world's first mobile social game. Having been launched on services for feature phones such as i-mode, which were the forerunners of the mobile internet, Fishing Star celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.

Fishing Star VR is a VR fishing game for Daydream, Google's platform for high quality mobile virtual reality, with multiplayer capability that allows up to six people to play together at once. It was developed to commemorate Fishing Star's 10th anniversary. Now, distribution of Fishing Star VR has begun in North America, bringing the game's pioneering features to the market in which consumer VR has made the deepest inroads.

Fishing Star VR Features

  • Reeling in fish through timing-based action
In Fishing Star, players tap the fish when they get a bite to reel it in. Fishing Star VR maintains this gameplay approach, while also taking full advantage of VR's unique intuitiveness, adding the action of actually raising up the controller.
  • Six-player multiplayer fishing tournaments
The game enables up to six players to compete at the same time, matching up players over vast distances. Winners can obtain rare items, including avatars.
  • Collecting over 100 varieties of fish for the Fish Album and Aquarium
Over 100 varieties of fish can be found at the game's fishing spots. The fish that the player has caught are added to their Fish Album and Aquarium. Players can take a break and watch the fish in their Aquarium at any time.
  • Avatar customization
Players can freely customize their avatars, including their face, hairstyle, clothes, and flag. The avatars' emotions change depending on how the fishing is progressing.
