Apperian Recognized in Gartner Market Guide for Mobile Application Management

Arxan Technologies, the trusted provider for protecting customer-facing and business apps outside the corporate perimeter, announced today that Apperian has been identified for the second time as a Representative Vendor in the Gartner “Market Guide for Mobile Application Management” report. Gartner states “The need to manage apps on unmanaged devices, such as those belonging to contractors or user-owned devices, is driving interest in stand-alone MAM solutions.”

According to Gartner, “The use cases driving continued demand for mobile application management (MAM) without enterprise mobility management (EMM) enrollment will not go away. In fact, the key drivers of that demand — contract employees, professionals who work for multiple employers and certain BYOD scenarios — are growing and very likely will continue to do so.”1 The report estimates that “by 2021, 60 percent of mobile apps in use in the enterprise will make use of at least one app-level management control, whether on managed or unmanaged devices.”

“In our view, Gartner has acknowledged the value of stand-alone MAM solutions that supports the growth we’ve been experiencing in the market,” said Joe Sander, CEO, Arxan. “To us, there is a sizable level of enterprise interest in selecting a robust MAM solution, especially in industries where a sizable portion of the population are BYOD workers, contract employees, or dealers. This segment of the working population cannot be forced to use an invasive solution that forces the user to install an MDM profile. A stand-alone MAM solution provides the distinct benefit of being able to effectively deploy and manage apps with built-in mobile security policies without requiring the device be enrolled. Stand-alone MAM capabilities have become must-haves for nearly every organization, as evidenced by the many customers we have who use Apperian alongside their traditional EMM system.”

Arxan’s Apperian MAM® platform is a recognized industry-leading solution that has delivered more than three million apps. Its open API platform provides organizations the ability to leverage specific app management capabilities, combined with security and dynamic policy controls at the individual app level, ensuring safe app deployment without requiring Mobile Device Management (MDM) software. The platform also provides:

  • A fully brandable enterprise app store for deploying any app to any user throughout the extended enterprise.
  • Mobile app security policy engine that protects access to sensitive information at the app-level.
  • Security, management and analytics policies applied to the app without requiring mobile app code modifications or use of SDKs.
  • Universal app distribution capabilities that allow deploying policy-enabled apps to non-managed devices
  • Seamless integration with mobile app development platforms and identity providers.
  • The industry’s most comprehensive app lifecycle management workflow.
  • Open API to all platform features, enabling organizations to integrate in micro-services architectures and leveraging just the components needed.

“We continue to see strong demand for our Apperian product, as the need to distribute and manage a growing number of custom-developed apps grows for businesses across the board,” said Sander.

The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...
