Hipmunk Makes It Easy to Find the Right Flight

Compare Flights and Fare Type by Earned Miles, Wi-Fi, Baggage Fees and More

SAN FRANCISCO, March 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hipmunk, the fastest, easiest way to plan travel, today announced a redesigned flight search experience that shows travelers flight-specific details and amenities, directly in their search results. It also shows travelers how those options change based on the type of ticket they book. The new experience makes it easy for travelers to quickly compare flights by what matters most to them, whether that's the miles they'll earn or extra legroom.

"These days, travelers' choices are more complex than ever," said Adam Goldstein, Hipmunk co-founder and CEO. "Travelers often choose a flight based on what's displayed at the time of booking, only to find out when it's too late that they can't use the overhead bin. Now, Hipmunk has found a way to ensure every traveler knows exactly what they are getting—before they book."

Hipmunk's new flight search design helps travelers find their "right flight" by showing them more information and options than ever before. It easily adjusts to users' flight preferences, so travelers can quickly determine things like whether they'll be able to get work done on their flight or how comfortable they'll be on a particular aircraft. All the while, Hipmunk's award-winning flight results page stays clean and easy to use.

"We're proud of being able to show whatever flight information there is, even as airlines expand offerings," continued Goldstein. "We're showing the number of frequent flyer miles you can earn—the first of its kind—alongside all the other information travelers need."

Hipmunk Now Shows Travelers More:

  • Easily Compare Fare Types: New fare comparisons show travelers the difference in price and comfort between ticket options, as they search through flights. This makes it easy to see which fare types give travelers what they need and when another fare type might be worth it.
  • Adjust Results Based on What Matters Most: Hipmunk's "Show Me" column allows users to compare what's available on each leg of their flight without having to juggle multiple searches or cross-reference other sites. With the "Show Me" column, travelers can see:
    • Mileage earned: How many miles or points a traveler can expect to earn on each leg of the journey
    • Amenities offered: USB power, legroom, meals and on-demand entertainment
    • Wi-Fi availability: Whether it's available, and whether there is a fee
    • Baggage allowance: Checked and carry-on, and whether there is a fee
    • Aircraft type: Airplane body for each leg and number of seats per row, along with images of the aircraft interior

It is ironic, but perhaps not unexpected, that many organizations who want the benefits of using an Agile approach to deliver software use a waterfall approach to adopting Agile practices: they form plans, they set milestones, and they measure progress by how many teams they have engaged. Old habits die hard, but like most waterfall software projects, most waterfall-style Agile adoption efforts fail to produce the results desired. The problem is that to get the results they want, they have to ch...
Organizations planning enterprise data center consolidation and modernization projects are faced with a challenging, costly reality. Requirements to deploy modern, cloud-native applications simultaneously with traditional client/server applications are almost impossible to achieve with hardware-centric enterprise infrastructure. Compute and network infrastructure are fast moving down a software-defined path, but storage has been a laggard. Until now.

For far too long technology teams have lived in siloes. Not only physical siloes, but cultural siloes pushed by competing objectives. This includes informational siloes where business users require one set of data and tech teams require different data. DevOps intends to bridge these gaps to make tech driven operations more aligned and efficient.
Without a clear strategy for cost control and an architecture designed with cloud services in mind, costs and operational performance can quickly get out of control. More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smart...
