L'Arabie Saoudite s’est vu Accordé 664 Brevets en 2017 ; Le Double du nombre accordé à Tous les Pays Arabes Combinés

L'Arabie Saoudite se classe au 23ème rang entre 92 pays en termes de brevets délivrés par le Bureau Américain des Brevets et des Marques de Commerce (USPTO) en 2017. La grande majorité de ces inventions brevetées sont scientifiques.

Selon StatNano, qui publie au début de chaque année un rapport sur l'état des nanosciences, de la technologie et de l'innovation de l'année précédente, l'Arabie saoudite a reçu 664 brevets l'an dernier, par rapport à 517 en 2016 et 409 en 2015. En outre, le dernier chiffre est le double de celui de tous les pays arabes réunis pendant la même période.

Cette année, l'Université Roi Fahd du Pétrole et des Mines (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals) (KFUPM) s’est classée au septième rang parmi les 10 meilleures universités au monde en termes de nombre de brevets accordés. « L'université a obtenu 183 brevets en 2017, dépassant l'université Johns Hopkins, Harvard College, et California Institute of Technology », a déclaré Dr. Khaled bin Saleh Al Sultan, Président de l'université basée à Dhahran.

« Jusqu'à présent, l'université a reçu plus de 800 brevets, et ce nombre représente plus de 60% du nombre total de brevets déposés par toutes les universités des pays arabes, qui sont au nombre de 300 », a-t-il ajouté.

En collaboration avec l'université, Saudi Aramco - qui a remporté 233 nouveaux brevets en 2017 - a obtenu plus des deux tiers du nombre total de brevets l'année dernière. En 2016, Aramco a obtenu 175 nouveaux brevets et a déposé 285 nouveaux brevets.

Les dernières nouvelles sur les brevets arrivent à un moment où l'Arabie Saoudite a mis l'accent sur la transformation numérique et l'amélioration des opportunités dans divers domaines - de la technologie et du tourisme aux arts et à l'entrepreneuriat.

L’Arabie Saoudite a également, pour la première fois, revendiqué une place parmi les « dix premiers pays en matière de brevets nanotechnologiques en 2017 », selon un rapport de StatNano du mois dernier. Le rapport indique que « la raison en est la croissance de 128% du nombre de demandes de brevet publiées en nanotechnologie de ce pays en 2017.

L'augmentation significative du nombre de brevets est l’un des indicateurs montrant que le plan ambitieux de la Vision 2030 de l'Arabie Saoudite a déjà commencé à porter ses fruits.
