Insuresoft, a leading provider of insurance software, announced today that Michigan based Northern Mutual Insurance Company will implement Insuresoft’s newest release of the Diamond System™ as its policy processing system.
The Diamond System™ is a fully automated and integrated policy processing system for both personal and commercial insurance carriers. It is a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solution for carrying out all business-critical insurance processing functions. There are nearly 400 Diamond modules in production for both personal and commercial lines of insurance across North America.
“The time we spent evaluating policy processing systems was well worth the effort,” said Mary Kay Rouleau, Data Processing Supervisor at Northern Mutual. “In the end, our existing relationship with Insuresoft and our success with The Diamond System provided enough reasons to remain with the company while we migrated to the most complete policy processing system available.”“Diamond addressed all of our key requirements by demonstrating configurable product design and intuitive policyholder self-service options,” Rouleau said. “We were additionally impressed by Insuresoft’s commitment to delivering the solution using the software as a service (SaaS) model.”
Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Insuresoft Michael Kellner said, “We feel that The Diamond System’s inherent functionality is well aligned with the business and technology needs expressed by Northern Mutual. We are delighted to have Northern Mutual commit to the .Net version of The Diamond System and look forward to many more years of a mutually successful relationship.”
About Northern Mutual Insurance Company:
Northern Mutual Insurance Company can trace its origins back to Erick Kakela, a farmer residing near Calumet, Michigan, who conceived of the idea of forming a fire insurance company in 1889 to provide an alternative to the large stock insurance companies of the time. By 1890, the company was officially formed.
Because of the Finnish heritage of the original founders, the name of the new company was the Finnish name “Suomalaisten Keskinainen Palovakuutus – Yhtio” or as translated to English, “Finnish Mutual Fire Insurance Company”. The founders created their new venture as a mutual insurance company, or a company that is owned by the policyholders. To this day the company remains a mutual company, although since January, 1990, has operated under the name of Northern Mutual Insurance Company, with the home office now being located south of Calumet in Hancock, Michigan.
Today, Northern Mutual is rated “A-, Excellent” by A.M. Best Company which rates all insurance companies on their ability to meet their primary obligation of paying claims. The company provides Homeowners, Personal Auto, Fire, and Businessowners insurance throughout the state of Michigan by way of the Independent Insurance Agency system.
