Altor VF 2.0 Defense-in-Depth Security Unveiled at VMworld Europe

Security Enhancements Added to the 1st Purpose Built Virtual Firewall

Altor Networks, creator of the purpose-built virtual firewall, has announced that Altor VF 2.0 virtual firewall will debut VMworld Europe in Cannes this week; it will be showcased in the VMsafe section of the Hands-on Lab.

VMworld Europe attendees are invited to preview the Altor VF 2.0 at the Hands-on Lab and participate in one of 16 simultaneous live demos of the virtual firewall. This is an opportunity to "sit in the driver's seat and test drive" Altor VF 2.0 and install, configure and deploy security policies in a virtual network.

"We are excited to see VMware's partners bring to market new security solutions built using VMsafe technology," said Shekar Ayyar, Vice President, Infrastructure Alliances, VMware. "Altor VF is an excellent showcase for harnessing the potential of VMsafeTM to deliver a virtual firewall uniquely designed by leveraging the VMware platform. Security administrators can deploy Altor VF in combination with VMsafe to achieve enhanced security available only in VMware environments."

Altor VF 2.0 provides additional defense-in-depth security to virtualized environments as well as tighter integration with the VMware platform and a new customer-driven advanced reporting module. The first security solution of its kind, and purpose-built for the virtualized environment, the Altor VF monitors and controls inter-VM traffic and enforces security policies at the individual VM level. Designed from scratch to secure the latest virtualization technologies, the Altor VF provides the thorough protection and ease-of-operation missing from traditional network security products that were not designed for the virtual environment.

"The release of the Altor VF 2.0 virtual firewall sets a new standard for defense-in-depth in the virtual environment," said Amir Ben-Efraim, CEO of Altor Networks. "In addition to the many security capabilities currently available in the Altor VF 2.0, we are working closely with VMware to provide a virtual firewall leveraging VMware VMsafe technology. We invite VMworld Europe attendees to join us in the Hands-On Lab to get a firsthand look at the Altor VF, and to preview our VMsafe integration with VMware."

With this release, Altor Networks provides the industry's only complete virtual firewall solution, delivered as a virtual appliance, which secures VMotion and auto deploys for easy installation. Altor Networks gives customers with unprecedented visibility into and granular control over virtual network traffic with award-winning technology that dramatically improves the security of virtual servers in data centers. Data center administrators can now pinpoint virtual security compromises and easily create role-based security policies. Security policies can be continuously enforced on individual VMs, simplifying deployment and on-going security management of the virtual infrastructure while reducing the dangers of security breaches.

Pricing and Availability
The Altor VF 2.0 is available immediately, starting at $2,000 per server. For more information, visit Altor's website at http://www.altornetworks.com.

About Altor Networks
Altor Networks is pioneering a new class of virtual security solutions to secure production-oriented virtualized data centers. The company's initial product line includes the industry's first-ever purpose-built virtual firewall, a software security appliance that runs in a virtualized environment and enforces security policy on a per virtual machine basis. Data center administrators can now pinpoint a broad range of virtual network security compromises and easily create roles-based security policies. For the first time, security policies can be continuously enforced on individual virtual machines, even as they move throughout the virtualized data center. Founded by security and networking experts from Check Point Software, Cisco and Oracle, Altor Networks is funded by Accel Partners and Foundation Capital and is headquartered in Redwood City, California. DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform. Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. But… securing CICD best practices is an emerging, essential, yet little understood practice for DevOps teams and their Cloud Service Providers. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...

Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
