Digital Signage Technology to Make Debut at BroadcastAsia2009; Key Regional Exhibition and Conference to Return from 16-19 June 2009

Singapore, May 5, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - BroadcastAsia - Asia's most comprehensive digital multimedia and entertainment technology event - will be held in Singapore at Singapore Expo come 16 19 June 2009. The international event attracted a total of more than 12,750 visitors last year, with over 47 per cent from overseas. In 2008, BroadcastAsia along with CommunicAsia saw the arrival of over 62,000 trade attendees.

The show's theme, "Digital: The Journey Forward", has come to encompass the technical platforms of both television broadcasting and the internet. They have also included industries and disciplines such as advertising and marketing, as they demand a richer visual experience to capture their intended audiences and consumers.

The 14th edition of BroadcastAsia will once again act as a one-stop sourcing platform for the broadcast and media industry, offering an effective avenue for exhibitors to promote and achieve visibility for their products and solutions, at the same time network with their customers from across the Asia Pacific region.

Featured for the first time at BroadcastAsia2009 is Digital Signage, which reflects the growing global demands of the retail, hospitality, transportation and entertainment industries for a dynamic medium to captivate their audiences. A form of electronic display that is installed in public spaces, Digital Signage is set to replace the conventional printed posters with state-of-the-art digital display panels.

According to Northern Sky Research's (NSR) report on the Global Market for Digital Signage, there were 210,000 Digital Signage sites installed globally, which brought in advertising revenues of US$1.075 billion in 2007. The report predicts an estimated 850,000 sites by 2013, generating US$2.7 billion in advertising revenue.

The Digital Signage cluster will feature leading exhibitors including display devices makers, network solution providers and management software enablers. Some renowned exhibitors include: Harris Infocaster, Dayang Technology Development Inc., G.G Alliance, Adder and Magna Systems.

"BroadcastAsia is known as a key platform where the best and latest in digital media and broadcasting are launched. The event still remains as the most relevant exhibition and conference in Asia for up-and-comings trends," said Calvin Koh, Senior Project Manager of the show's organiser Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).

At the same time, he is confident that turnout at the event will continue to be impressive despite the economic downturn. Asia is expected to experience a more rapid economic recovery as compared to other regions. In addition, tighter travel budgets mean that significant numbers of trade professionals in the region will be opting to attend a comprehensive regional event such as BroadcastAsia2009, and forgoing smaller, specialised events as well as events held in Europe and North America, he explained. "With many exciting trends and the focus on the user experience, BroadcastAsia2009 looks set to make an impact once again, and be the place where industry players and professionals can network and exchange ideas."

Aside from Digital Signage, BroadcastAsia2009 will again feature key technologies that draw huge interest and demand from the market. These include Broadcast-to-Handheld/Mobile TV, Digital Media Asset Management, High-Definition Technology, IPTV, Mobile Broadcasting and Professional Audio Technology.
